GI Rights Hotline: Search Tips

The search feature finds all the pages in this site that contain all the words typed into the search box.

Once you click on a link to the page you want to look at, you can use your browser's search feature (under "Edit") to look for the words within that page.

Capital letters and lower-case letters are treated the same, so you don't have to capitalize any letters. The basic search looks for whole words only. For example, if you want to find out information about the "DEP", you can type:

dep

into the search box and you will find links to all the pages that contain "dep" as a whole word. If you only want to find the pages that contain "dep" and "army", then type:

dep army

The order doesn't matter, so "army dep" would work the same.

On the other hand, if you want to find all pages with words that start with "dep", such as "deploy", "deployment", "dependency", etc., you can type:

dep*

into the search box. And, if you also want to find all pages that have words with "dep" anywhere in them, for example, "independent", then you can type:

*dep*
